Packable, wide brim, UV protective hats seem so simple and logical, yet the concept did not really exist in the U.S. in the 1990’s. It took a trip to Australia for Stephanie Carter and Lenya Shore to recognize the opportunity. The pair began importing hats from Australia to their hometown in sunny, high altitude Boulder in 1999. With the expanding popularity of the concept they started designing their own hats like the Breton - a lightweight, wide brim, polyester ribbon hat with UPF50+ sun protection that rolls up for packing. Like many of their hats, it’s available in a wide variety of colors.
